.......... oooops ..........

so 6 months... time flies with all those other things in life... I will change my attendance record in 2009. In the meantime, here are the last 6 months of the calendar, which is now, of course, totally useless!

~ july ~

So, July is here and we are half way through 2008... I still write 2007 when signing checks or filling in forms, how will I cope with 2009? My paper life is a year behind! Here is the mid-year marker of the idioms calendar for you. Hopefully no toilets will burn for you this month....

! i want one !

OK ~ this is the coolest thing I have seen in a long, long time! So damn creative! Dave Devries who illustrates for fantasy mavericks like Marvel Comics, takes kids' drawings and 'dimensionalizes' them... as a kid, I would be like "YEAH! That is exactly what I had in my head, just my stupid uncooperative 5 year old hands just wouldn't do what I wanted!" Check it out....

~ june ~

As I sit here, cowering in my air-conditioned office, looking out at the 104˚ heat, afraid to step out as my skin combusts instantaneously upon contact with the sunlight causing me to smell like fried bacon, I dream of summer days spent with my family in our lovely summerhouse in Rørvig. My parents did a VERY smart thing building that summerhouse... as we moved house and country every year or two, it was an anchor... a safe haven of holiday bliss for my brother and I and without it I fear my danish roots would have lost their grip. Here is your latest installment for the idioms calendar... and as we try to buy a house, i will be taking this idioms advice and try to not get to carried away, as is always my way....

[ aspirational ]

Thanks to Daily Candy, I came across this photographer: Heather Waraksa : whose photographs I really like! As far as wedding photography goes, I think she captures a great spirit that I just feel is void in the typical wedding photographs. Not only am I sure her newlywed clients are thrilled with the results but these are also photographs that any wedding photographer would be proud to show off in her portfolio!

~ coffee cuff ~

I love this product! I always try to avoid using the cardboard sleeves when I buy coffee here in Manhattan (seems so wasteful... of course, so does the cup but one step at a time here, ok?). But then, avoiding these sleeves, I always end up looking like a fool as I teeter down the street shifting my coffee from one hand to the other while holding onto my earlobe with the free hand for relief (earlobes are the coldest part of your body and can be used to cool singed fingers in a pinch). Problem solved! Contexture in Canada have designed this delicious cuff that "keeps your hand and your environmental footprint cool". Made from reclaimed veneer, it comes in a variety of woods and, being a big girl, I love a chunky accessory so I am now a proud owner of this yummy trendy cuff come conscious coffee sleeve item!

... April ...

A bird in the hand is better than 10 on the roof ~ this month I will be grateful for what I have, cherish the gifts in life that have been afforded me and I will not let the birds on the roof confuse me!Apr_2008
